In 1999 Jean-Michel Vetu was invited in Moscow by his friend and painter Nikolaï Kojoukhovski,  a member of  the union of Russian painters.
From Moscow to Saint Petersburg, Nicolaï made him discover The Great Masters in Russian Painting.
From his first trip, he had a very pleasant recollection.

The pass he got from the Ermitage museum authorities
allowed him to step in the most famous museum in the world.
For several days, he paced up and down the long corridors and the rooms with his sketch block.

He contemplated, rejoiced and was enraptured.
